Minister Announces ₹2,000 Crore Allocation and Cancer Centre Plan for Madurai

Minister for Energy Resources and Law Nirmal Kumar spoke at the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry meeting regarding regional development. He stated that previous governments had ignored fundamental needs in Madurai, such as adequate roads, drainage systems, and drinking water. To address this, he announced that efforts are underway to establish a cancer centre in the city, for which land and funds have been allocated. Furthermore, he confirmed that an unprecedented ₹2,000 crore has been allocated for the city's development, and discussions have begun with Highway officials regarding city roads and bridges.

The announcements detail significant government allocations intended to improve core infrastructure in Madurai. The funding targets key areas including healthcare facilities, urban planning, and connectivity. This influx of capital and development projects could stimulate local business and service sectors within the city.
