What happened
Nova Scotia introduced new fuel levies for vehicle owners starting October 1, 2026. Electric vehicle owners will pay a $500 levy, and plug-in hybrid vehicle owners will pay $250, in addition to their vehicle registration fee. The levy applies to passenger vehicles, light trucks, and vans, but gas hybrid vehicles are exempt.
