Octapharma Tests Drone Delivery of Freeze-Dried Plasma for Emergency Use

Octapharma is testing the concept of using drones to deliver freeze-dried plasma to critically injured patients. This research is currently underway in Ukraine and aims to explore if the product can reach individuals at their point of injury when conventional transportation is unavailable. The company is investigating how this product could serve as a potential new approach to emergency medical care in warzones, disasters, and remote communities.

The testing focuses on whether the freeze-dried plasma can be successfully delivered via drone to medical teams treating severely injured military personnel. This work represents a potential shift in how emergency medical products are deployed and accessed in challenging environments.
