Odisha Targets Semiconductor Manufacturing Hub Status in Eastern India

Odisha is promoting its potential as a manufacturing destination in eastern India, focusing on indigenous chips and semiconductor investment. The state outlined plans for an 870-acre semiconductor and electronics manufacturing cluster at Naraj, backed by investment proposals valued at Rs 23,600 crore. Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that Odisha has significant potential in the sector, noting that more investments are expected in the coming days, including developments related to a 3D packaging unit.

The push aims to establish India as a preferred destination for high-tech manufacturing and achieve self-reliance in the semiconductor sector. The proposals underscore the state's readiness to build a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, moving beyond initial intent.
