GSMA Urges Stronger Coordination for Digital Pakistan Agenda Amid Oversight Calls

The GSMA released a report urging that the successful realization of the Digital Pakistan agenda depends on outcomes delivered rather than policy alone, calling for stronger coordination between federal and provincial governments. The report specifically called for the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) to be strengthened as the focal agency for sustained collaboration. Concurrently, reports highlighted that aggressive digital pursuits require robust, agile regulatory measures to balance technological expansion with individual sovereignty and national security.

The GSMA advised that priorities include ensuring balanced taxation and flexible payment terms for spectrum to unlock investment capacity. Furthermore, the reports stressed that institutional governance is essential for data protection, coordinating digital infrastructure, and countering sophisticated cyber threats like deepfakes and disinformation campaigns.
