Study details $42 million circulated in Holyoke, MA during parades and events

A new study released by Cambridge Econometrics detailed that nearly $42 million circulated through the region of Holyoke, Massachusetts, due to the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and other events. The study, which is the first since 2012, surveyed participants at the road race and parade and included case studies of five local businesses. The spending, which included meals, hotel bookings, and supplies, accounted for more than $23 million in new money brought in by visitors alone. The events also generated over $10 million in wages for 275 jobs.

The findings indicate a significant economic activity driven by transient visitors and event participation in the region. The spending supported local businesses in western Massachusetts, demonstrating a direct economic input from the annual parades and events.
