Oyo State Approves Immediate Death Benefit Payments for Fallen Teachers
What happened
The Oyo State government approved the immediate payment of death benefits for teachers who were killed by armed bandits during an abduction in the Oriire local government of the state in May this year. The chairman of the Oyo state Local Government Staff Pension Board stated that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has been pension-friendly regarding these payments. The state government confirmed it had paid N42 billion as gratuity and death benefits from the inherited backlog and accrued funds.
