Nigerian Regulator Seizes Counterfeit Goods in Lagos and Aba

Nigeria’s food and drug regulator reported raids in Lagos and Aba uncovered suspected counterfeit drink operations. The October 13 raid in Lagos International Trade Fair Complex found over 20 suspected illegal stores, leading to two arrests and the seizure of goods valued at more than ₦2 billion. In Aba, the agency found counterfeit labels and packaging materials at five shops, valuing the materials at over ₦200 million.

The seizures indicate ongoing illicit trade activity involving established brand names in Nigeria. Investigators plan to trace the products and raw materials to identify those financing or directing the operations.
