DSWD Projects Boost Agricultural Output and Water Access in Luzon
What happened
Between 2023 and 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development implemented Project Local Adaptation to Water Access (LAWA) and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished (BINHI) in Luzon. Under LAWA, community workers constructed 1,650 small farm reservoirs and repaired 831 community irrigation facilities. These water storage facilities enabled aquaculture, which yielded nearly 439,885 kilograms of tilapia and bangus, valued at over Php65 million.
