SiriusXM Channel Shift Reduces Royalty Checks for Lesser-Known Comedians

Sebastian Maniscalco took over SiriusXM's Raw Comedy channel, renaming it Sebastian Maniscalco’s Comedy Radio. The channel reduced the number of artists with comedy albums in its rotation from 808 to 275. This change means that lesser-known comedians no longer receive the monthly royalty checks they relied on for income.

The shift favors mega-A-list comedians, such as Jerry Seinfeld, Richard Pryor, and Johnny Carson, who were added to the playlist and now receive the monthly payments previously allocated to smaller, working artists. This restructuring affects the financial stability of the stand-up comedy community.
