Why it matters
Revolut, which has a valuation hovering around $115 billion, is building a unified banking platform to operate across diverse markets and regulatory regimes. This expansion faces obstacles including geopolitical fragmentation, sanctions, and increasingly strict requirements from supervisory authorities. The firm is also pursuing a conditional US bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
