San Bernardino Airport Installs New FAA-Approved Surveillance System
What happened
RTX Collins Aerospace is deploying the Tower MicroELITE (TME) display, a new surveillance system designed to improve air traffic controller situational awareness at ATC facilities. The TME display integrates Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) and radar surveillance data in a compact, enterprise-grade system. San Bernardino International Airport, which has a federal contract tower, is the first airport to install the system after it received FAA design approval as an Airborne Position Reference Tool (APRT).

Why it matters
The TME display is designed for deployment across regional and general aviation reliever airports, business aviation terminals, and heliports. The installation marks the first deployment of this FAA-approved solution at an eligible contract tower airport. This technology is intended to help airport operators manage airspace as air traffic continues to grow.
