Chattanooga Parking Fine Amnesty Period Ends This Week

The four-month amnesty period for parking fines in Chattanooga is concluding, offering a narrow window for residents to apply for fine reductions through the program. The program, which began on June 1, allows drivers with three or more outstanding tickets older than 60 days to apply for partial forgiveness of unpaid fines. CARTA Chief of Staff Scott Wilson stated that booting of the worst offenders will begin on October 1.

The expiration of the amnesty period means that unpaid fines will continue to accrue, impacting consumer spending and local parking fees. The program has seen 92 people resolve their outstanding balances to date.
