Study suggests South Apopka could be annexed by City of Apopka
What happened
A new city-commissioned study indicates that South Apopka could legally and physically be annexed into the City of Apopka. The proposed annexation area covers approximately 1,235.7 acres and includes roughly 4,063 residents across 2,450 parcels. If annexed, Apopka’s population would increase by about 6%, from an estimated 66,580 to 70,583.

Why it matters
The potential annexation would require significant costs, new staffing, and years of infrastructure work for Apopka. City leaders are currently weighing whether the benefits of bringing South Apopka into the city outweigh the expense of providing city-level services to thousands of additional residents.
