Housing Developer Cites High Costs, Calls for Density in New Hampshire

Eric Jackson, director of acquisitions and development for Stabile Companies, participated in a webinar discussing housing trends in New Hampshire. Jackson stated that increasing housing density is the most effective way to lower housing costs and make development projects financially feasible. Stabile Companies reported a median price of $980,000 for a newly constructed home in Hillsborough and Rockingham counties.

Jackson noted that project costs have risen significantly, citing land acquisition costs up 65%, road and infrastructure installation costs up 70%, and construction costs up 10%. These escalating expenses are influencing the feasibility of new housing projects in the state.
