Jamestown Police Department Recommends Staffing Increases

A staffing plan for the Jamestown Police Department was presented to the Jamestown Police and Fire Committee on September 24. The plan recommends adding six patrol officers and one records clerk over the next two fiscal years. The goal of the plan is to assess the department's current staffing needs using three years of historical information.

The recommended staffing increases aim to allow the Jamestown Police Department to respond to 11,000 to 12,000 calls for service. The plan specifies that additional officers would enable the department to respond to top priority calls within five minutes and priority two calls within ten minutes.
