Why it matters
The project is located in the Smackover Formation, a geological deposit known for its history of oil and gas production. Standard Lithium noted that the Smackover region has the potential to yield between 100,000 and 150,000 tonnes per year of lithium. This effort supports U.S. goals to decrease reliance on imported lithium.
