Housing Model Origins Detailed: Partnership Housing Concept Traced to Americus

The origins of the partnership housing concept were established on a farm outside Americus, Georgia. Philanthropists Millard and Linda Fuller met founder Clarence Jordan at Koinonia Farm near Americus. They initiated the ‘Fund for Humanity’ and the concept of ‘partnership housing,’ which involved building modest homes using no-profit, no-interest mortgages. The Fullers had previously adapted this model during a mission in Mbandaka, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo).

The partnership housing model, which involved building 42 homes for families in need, was pioneered by the Fullers. This model laid the groundwork for the organization's vision of providing decent housing globally.
