Dutch Tourism Sector Spending Hits Near €118 Billion, Driven by Foreign Visitors

Statistics Netherlands released data showing that tourist expenditure in the Netherlands was almost €118 billion last year. This represented a three percent rise when adjusted for inflation. Foreign tourists accounted for over half of the total spend, which reached almost €42 billion, an increase of over seven percent adjusted for inflation. Domestic tourists contributed almost €70 billion, growing by nearly one percent adjusted for inflation.

The data indicates that the tourism sector remains below its pre-pandemic employment levels, though it was responsible for 5.4 percent of total employment in 2025. The sector's performance is also tied to the overall economic health of the Netherlands.
