Belarusian Agriculture Claims Stability Despite Sanctions, Citing High Consumption

At the 3rd International Agricultural Forum on September 24th, Natalya Sonich, Head of the Main Department of Livestock Intensification and Fisheries Activities at the Agriculture and Food Ministry, spoke about the Belarusian agricultural sector. Sonich stated that despite sanctions and difficult circumstances, the industry has maintained stability by boosting production and has nearly eliminated reliance on imported raw materials. She noted that the country has achieved a high level of consumption of various food products.

The official claimed that the combined efforts of leadership and local producers ensured food security remains a top priority in Belarus’ socio-economic policy. Specific consumption averages cited included 104kg of meat, 255kg of milk, and 183kg of vegetables per capita annually.
