Côte d’Ivoire Approves 8-Year PPP with Zipline for Healthcare Expansion

The government of Côte d’Ivoire approved an eight-year public-private partnership with Zipline to expand its autonomous medical delivery network from one center in Daloa to ten nationwide. This expansion is one of Africa’s largest deployments of AI and robotics in healthcare, projected to serve over 12 million people and more than 2,200 health facilities. The financing structure includes upfront infrastructure funding from the US government and a $150 million State Department pay-for-performance award, while Côte d’Ivoire committed to paying for ongoing operations.

The arrangement shifts the operational control and recurring costs to the host government over an eight-year period, designed to continue beyond the initial grant funding cycle. This commitment represents a significant domestic investment in large-scale health technology infrastructure.
