What happened
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan stated that the structural liquidity surplus in the country's banking sector reached 6.3 billion manats ($3.7 billion) at the close of August 2026. This surplus represented a 2.2-fold increase compared to December 2025. The CBA noted that benchmark rates in the unsecured money market had been declining somewhat amid this liquidity surplus.
