Defense Health Agency Acquires Headquarters in Falls Church for $285 Million
What happened
The government has acquired the headquarters campus of the Defense Health Agency for $285 million. The purchase includes the 44-acre property at 7700 Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church, which has housed the agency since 2011. The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command purchased the property from GBA Associates, the longtime owner.
Why it matters
The acquisition adds the property to the nation’s real estate portfolio as a large leased office campus. The purchase is expected to save the federal government several million dollars annually by allowing the agency to buy instead of lease.
