What happened
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence uncovered the illegal import of more than 7,300 metric tonnes of Pakistan-origin rock salt. The consignments, which totaled 295 containers, were routed through Colombo Port in Sri Lanka using fabricated certificates to circumvent India's prohibition on goods from Pakistan. Nine importers brought in the salt since March 2026 through Mundra and Kandla ports, and four people were arrested in connection with the case.
