Ukraine and EU bodies advance accession talks amid legislative push

Ukrainian officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, met in Brussels with the EU Council of the EU Working Party on Enlargement (COELA). The meeting provided an update on Ukraine's progress toward fulfilling commitments under the EU accession negotiation process. The officials noted that the process requires translating commitments into concrete legislative and governmental decisions, necessitating close coordination between the government and parliament.

The discussions focused heavily on the implementation of rule of law reforms in Ukraine. These priority tasks include criminal proceedings, the independence of anti-corruption agencies, the prosecutor's office, and the selection of judges. The ongoing work involves the government and parliament implementing a more systematic approach to the 114 European integration bills under consideration in the Verkhovna Rada.
