EU Pledges €710 Million Aid Package for Ukraine and Africa

The European Commission unveiled a package of nearly €710 million ($809 million) during the 81st United Nations General Assembly on September 26, 2026. This aid package is part of a larger campaign run by Global Citizen. Of the total funds, €52 million ($59 million) is earmarked for Ukraine to cover humanitarian assistance, emergency preparedness, and winterization. The largest share of the funding, approximately €380 million ($433 million), is designated for displaced communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The pledge outlines the Commission's financial support for crisis management globally. The funds are intended to assist vulnerable migrants and support those affected by conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. The package addresses issues including conflict, extreme weather, and the rising cost of living.
