SeaTwirl and Hunter Floating Offshore Wind sign MoU for NSW demonstration project

SeaTwirl and Hunter Floating Offshore Wind signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding on September 22, 2026, for a 20 MW floating offshore wind demonstration project off Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia. The project is located in the Hunter offshore wind zone, which was designated by the Australian Government in July 2023. SeaTwirl will contribute its technology, while Hunter Floating Offshore Wind will manage project development, including permits and financing. The agreement includes a 24-month mutual exclusivity period, but neither party is obliged to proceed until separate binding agreements are signed.

The agreement aims to establish a pathway for the demonstration project to transition into larger commercial deployments. Hunter Floating Offshore Wind is responsible for securing permits and grid connections for the project, which will utilize SeaTwirl’s 2 MW floating vertical-axis turbine.
