Why it matters
The amendment could alter the power equations within influential cooperative institutions, such as the Gokul Milk Union. The decision is viewed as an opportunity for the ruling Mahayuti to regain control of the dairy cooperative.
Maharashtra is introducing new rules and a legal framework to operationalize the Cooperative Societies Act for housing societies.
