Livestock Association Calls on Government to Establish Demonstration Farms

The National Sheep and Goat Development Association of Nigeria called on the Federal Government to establish demonstration farms in each of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The association stated these centers would strengthen sheep and goat production and improve farmers’ earnings. The association also noted that these farms could aid in controlling diseases such as Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and sheep and goat pox.

The association explained that these demonstration farms would serve as practical learning platforms for farmers, students, and investors. They would promote knowledge sharing regarding improved breeding techniques, animal health management, and better feeding practices to boost production and reduce poverty.
