Regina Floral Conservatory Seeks Multi-Level Government Funding for New Facility

The Regina Floral Conservatory is planning a new facility intended to open by late 2030, coinciding with Saskatchewan's 125th anniversary. The organization stated that its current building, which is 60 years old, requires major repairs and is at risk of closure due to infrastructure deterioration. The proposed new conservatory project is estimated to cost $48 million and occupy 42,000 square feet.

The project requires a multi-funding approach, with the Regina Floral Conservatory seeking a commitment structure of 50 percent federal, 20 percent provincial, 20 percent city, and 10 percent from its own funds. The organization also asked the city to participate in an environmental assessment as part of its 2027 budget deliberations.

The government, via the Minister of Agriculture, announced a broader national plan and secured funding for a multi-year initiative concerning botanical gardens.
