Ebonyi State Grapples with Flooding in Ivo and Ohaozara Local Government Areas

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru directed the state Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assess, evacuate, and relocate communities affected by recent flooding in Ivo and Ohaozara Local Government Areas. The state government has contacted the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to coordinate relief, rehabilitation, and support measures for affected residents. The governor noted that the flooding has resulted in the destruction of households, farmlands, crops, and other sources of livelihood in the affected areas.

The state government is seeking complementary intervention from the federal government through NEMA to address the immediate humanitarian needs of the affected residents. This coordination involves the potential allocation of federal resources for disaster response and recovery efforts.
