What happened
Conciliation is underway regarding the much-delayed Talcher Fertilizers Project in Angul, Odisha. The project, valued at nearly ₹19,000 crore, involves GAIL, Coal India, and China Wuhuan Engineering Co. The government has appointed former Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud to serve as the independent conciliator. The company has sought a financial incentive of ₹3,508 crore under the Ministry of Coal's surface coal gasification scheme, which is part of the viability gap funding (VGF).
