Trans-Sahara Highway Project Connects Three Nigerian States

The Trans-Sahara Highway is an infrastructure project connecting three states: Ebonyi, Benue, and Kogi. The route begins in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, traverses Ador in Benue State, and includes Nsukka and parts of Kogi State before terminating at the Owete Bridge in the Federal Capital Territory. The Minister of Works defended the project, stating that its distribution was based on federal government approvals and was not biased toward the South-East.

The project represents a major federal infrastructure investment across multiple states. The Minister of Works noted that the contractor was directed to work on three sections simultaneously to accelerate construction. The successful execution of such projects is viewed as providing economic stimulus and fulfilling national development goals.
