Ukraine establishes anti-corruption bodies and discusses reforms at Chatham House
What happened
Arseniy Yatsenyuk, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, spoke at Chatham House regarding anti-corruption efforts in the country. He noted that since 2014-2015, Ukraine created an extensive network of independent anti-corruption bodies, such as the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, and the High Anti-Corruption Court. Yatsenyuk also mentioned the introduction of a special electronic public procurement system.

Why it matters
Yatsenyuk stated that these anti-corruption bodies should concentrate on military spending, the defense budget, and state-owned enterprises. The creation of these independent institutions and the electronic procurement system suggests a comprehensive approach to improving governance and transparency in state spending.
