Uzbekistan Mandates Cleaner Energy for Tashkent Greenhouse Operations
What happened
Uzbekistan plans to introduce a special environmental regime for greenhouses in Tashkent and five surrounding districts. This regime requires operators to adopt cleaner heating technologies and prohibits the burning of tires, plastics, bitumen, fuel oil, and waste. To support the transition, the government will offer subsidies and preferential loans, and greenhouses currently using solid fuels must switch to approved energy sources by December 1, 2026.
