What happened
Due to extensive losses caused by frost and freeze events in the spring, the Governor of Virginia requested a natural disaster declaration from the U.S. Department of Agriculture on behalf of the state. The declaration was granted for 104 localities in Virginia that were impacted by these weather events between March 17 and May 4, 2026. The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services subsequently submitted a joint exemption request to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority.
