Bihar recorded a 27% rainfall deficit from June to mid-September, despite achieving 99% of its targeted paddy coverage by the end of August. While farmers utilized alternative irrigation methods, officials cautioned that the actual condition of the standing crop would only be known after floodwaters recede. The government has begun preparations for the paddy procurement season, which is planned to start in mid-November.
