What happened
Wolseley is delivering a Start at Home scheme supported by NESTA. This initiative follows research showing that 52% of UK installers lacked confidence or felt insufficiently trained to carry out heat pump installations, according to a survey of 1,320 installers and 2,000 homeowners. The scheme, powered by RES, provides free training to installers.
Why it matters
The program addresses a skills gap that emerged after government research found that only 27% of Heat Training Grant recipients installed a heat pump the following year. Wolseley’s Renewables Centre aims to train 5,000 new installers by 2030.
