Yemen Claims to Launch Missiles Targeting Red Sea Aviation and Shipping

The spokesperson for Yemen’s armed forces stated that the Houthi militia is using Iranian air defense weapons that have been modified into loitering missiles. These missiles are being launched from Hodeidah Governorate toward international air routes over the southern Red Sea. The projectiles can cruise for up to 25 minutes and operate on a thermal tracking system, capable of attacking any heat source without distinguishing between military or civilian targets.

The escalation coincides with threats issued by Mohammad Mokhber and Mohsen Rezaei to target and disrupt aviation services in the region following sanctions imposed on Iranian airlines. The officials warned that this constitutes a direct and dangerous threat to the safety of civil aviation, including humanitarian and relief organization flights using these air routes.
