Conference in Lagos Calls for Solutions for Capital Access for Women-Led Businesses

The third edition of the W.O.M.A.N. conference was held in Lagos, focusing on scaling women-led businesses in manufacturing, agribusiness, and nutrition. Alitheia Capital stated that the firm called for financing solutions tailored to the needs of these businesses, noting that viable enterprises remain shut out of formal capital despite demonstrating investment readiness. During the conference, Abisola Olusanya spoke on behalf of the Lagos State Governor, noting that women-led businesses continue to face significant barriers in accessing appropriate finance and growth capital.

The conference brought together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and development partners to examine systemic barriers to capital, energy, technology, and markets. The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems noted that moving viable businesses from survival to sustainable scale requires collective responsibility from government, financial institutions, private equity, development partners, and the entrepreneurs themselves.
