What happened
The five Central Asian states met at the 95th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia (ICWC) in Avaza on October 7, 2026. They agreed on water distribution arrangements and projected operating regimes for the region’s major reservoir cascades during the 2026–2027 non-growing season. Participants reviewed water withdrawals and reservoir operations during the 2026 growing season in both the Amu Darya and Syr Darya basins.
