Saskatchewan Education Funding Cut by $1,483 Per Student

The per-student education funding in Saskatchewan was $1,483 lower in the 2025-26 school year compared to a decade earlier. The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation is launching a new campaign using television, social media, and out-of-home advertising to draw attention to this funding decline. STF president Samantha Becotte stated the funding loss is having a significant impact on school operations.

The federation noted that the funding decline might require schools to hire additional staff, such as teachers or professional support like occupational therapists and educational psychologists. This hiring is needed to reduce class sizes and increase access to necessary professional support for students.
