Toyota outlines ambitious plan to integrate advanced robotics into global manufacturing

Toyota is pursuing a goal of deploying 400,000 factory robots globally, with the company already testing ELEY humanoid robots on assembly lines to learn from human workers. A company executive stated that the goal is not to directly replace the human workforce. Starting in 2028, the Toyota Motor group plans to invest $6.42 billion annually to upgrade its facilities, aiming for 150,000 robots in its own plants and 250,000 at group company facilities.

The company currently employs 18,000 veteran workers across 60 factories worldwide, including 11 manufacturing plants in the United States. The strategic push involves integrating advanced automation into its global production footprint.
